Time to make the donuts: Franchise operator signs Dunkin’ Donuts deal

A franchise operator from Utah signed a development deal to open 46 new Dunkin’ Donuts stores in the region.

Based in Canton, Mass., Dunkin’ Donuts has a loyal following on the East Coast, where its stores are a prevalent as areStarbucks stores are on the West Coast.

The new Dunkin’ stores will be the Sacramento broadcast media market, which includes Sacramento, Stockton, Modesto, Manteca and Tracy.

The franchise operator is Sizzling Donuts LLC, which has signed other franchise agreements with Dunkin’ to develop 60 restaurants in Northern Utah, Denver, Colorado and Texas. The company has 17 open restaurants in those markets. Sizzling Donuts is a subsidiary of Sizzling Platter LLC, which is based in the Salt Lake City suburb of Murray, Utah.

Dunkin’ is still looking for franchise operators for Fresno, Bakersfield and Santa Barbara, Northern California, and some parts of Southern California. In October, the company announced it wanted to add 1,000 stores in the Golden State.
